Tips For Finding a Wedding Cake Designer

The biggest day of your life is approaching - your wedding day. Whether you're starting your planning with plenty of time to spare or are coming down to the wire and still have plans left to finish, one detail you don't want to let slide is the wedding cake.

After all, your wedding cake will be the centerpiece of your food presentation at your reception, whether you're serving a sit down dinner, a buffet or cake and coffee. Photos of the happy couple sharing a piece of cake are preserved forever in countless wedding albums (nobody takes a picture of the bride and groom sharing a piece of chicken or bit of potatoes!).

Finding Even though we've become an increasing wired world and just about anything an be bought on the Internet and shipped to your door, a custom designed wedding cake is still one of the few exceptions to this fact of modern day life. Your wedding cake will almost assuredly be baked and decorated by someone who lives in your local area. a great cake designer in your area.

Tip #1: The personal touch. Start by asking friends and relatives who they trust. If you attend a wedding, talk to the person serving the cake - she may just be the person who created it as well.

Tip # 2: Do some searching online. Once you come up with a list of designers you like, go online and check out their websites. Send emails to cake designers you find with your questions. Be sure to get all the details of how they will handle your cake - not just the design, but also how they handle billing, delivery and deposits.

Tip #3. Don't just accept what the hall, caterer or wedding planner offer. If you're using a caterer, they might be a good source, but don't take them at face value - there are lots of talented cake designers out there, and you deserve the best cake for your big day. The same goes for the hall you use for your reception, or the wedding planner you're using. While they may be a good source for leads on cake designers, do your own research and make up your own mind.

Lastly, remember that the personal connection you make with your wedding cake designer will be truly important. You want them to care about you and the outcome. Generally, a chain or store that mass-produces wedding cakes won't give you the same personal attention. And since it's your wedding, your cake deserves a lot of personal attention!
